    Description

    My field of research concerns the physicochemical and mechanical properties of porous materials such as those involved in civil and environmental engineering (concrete, rocks, or other geomaterials). Through their connected porosity and high specific area of pore walls, these materials have the distinctive feature of exchanging fluids - that may contain chemically aggressive agents or may be subjected to phase transitions - with the exterior, in addition to thermal and mechanical energy forms. To better understand and predict the behaviour of such materials, I have recourse to the Biot-Coussy poromechanics that permits analysing how phenomena acting at the pore scale yield macroscopic stress and strain by couplings. In this way, such an approach is appropriate for predicting the ageing of geomaterials and thus the sustainability of civil and environmental engineering structures.
