What is noise mapping?
Presented by Judicaël Picaut and Arnaud Can, Joint Research Unit in Environmental Acoustics (UMRAE)
According to Directive 2002-49-CE on the assessment and management of environmental noise, cities with more than 100,000 inhabitants are obliged to construct noise maps, with three aims:
- To conduct a survey of environmental noise
- To disseminate the information to the population
- To draw up action plans to combat noise
The Environmental Acoustics Laboratory (LAE) is involved in developing new tools for forecasting environmental noise.
Watch this video to find out about research work carried out in connection with the new tools that are more accurate and functional and which can be developed on the basis of participative measurements made by members of the population (video in French).
