The COP21 conference on Transport, Research and Climate Change: the Institute is involved not only at the national level but also, very strongly, at the European and International levels. The main events IFSTTAR is organising or taking part in are as follows:

In the framework of its in-house seminars, which aims to direct the Institute’s scientific activities and encourage or facilitate innovation and new cross-cutting initiatives, a scientific seminar was organised on climate change on 2 April 2015.

Focused on « adapting cities and infrastructure to climate change and impact reduction », this scientific seminar provided IFSTTAR’s researchers with the opportunity to collectively consider both the major technical and societal issues and current and future problems. The full program shows the range of topics that were tackled. The podcasts presented in this file were recorded during this event.

At the national level

IFSTTAR is the partner in a large number of climate initiatives and is involved in organising a considerable number of scientific events all over France. Its scientists also take part in a large number of initiatives. For example, the following conferences:

  • MEDCOP 21 which took place between 4 and 7 June 2015 in Marseille;
  • SEC2015 on shrink-swell processes in soils, which took place between 18 and 19 June 2015 at Marne la Vallée;
  • PNACC Seminars held on 13 November 2015 which targets managers, project managers and infrastructure owners and dealt with « adapting infrastructure and transport networks to climate change ».

At the European and International level : Our Common Future Under Climate Change CCFCC-2015

IFSTTAR is a partner of the CCFCC-2015 conference is an international scientific conference organised by INRA. This is to take place between 7 and 9 July 2018 in Paris. This scientific event takes place immediately before the COP21 conference at the end of the year. The Institute’s teams are, in particular, involved in two thematic sessions:

  • One on “a carbon free Europe” organised with the European Commission;
  • And the other on transport, organised with CEREMA which deals with mitigation and adaptation actions.

During this scientific conference, in the framework of the European Transport Research Alliance (ETRA), IFSTTAR is organising "transport, climate change, research" workshop on 6 July at its Marne-la-Vallée site. This workshop is recognised as an event that is associated with the CFCC-2015. Its main goals are to discuss all the issues that relate to climate change, i.e. to:

  • highlight the key findings of transport research
  • discuss the practical conditions for implementing adaptation and mitigation actions in the short and medium terms, in the area of transport
  • draw up recommendations for actions that are necessary at the European level
  • identify needs for future research

The 2015 Paris Climate change Conference (COP21)

France was officially named as the host country for the 21st Climate Conference in 2015 (Paris Climat 2015). This is to be held in December 2015.
