Accreditation to supervise research (HDR) and teaching activities

Accreditation to supervise research (HDR)

In addition to taking part in doctoral training, our researchers are encouraged to gain an accreditation to supervise research. This is another winning strategy for the Institute - the accredited researchers obviously gain in terms of their reputation among their peers, but it also allows the Institute to become independent with regard to thesis supervision, making it a fully-fledged partner for our principal doctoral schools. 32% of our researchers and staff who are assessed on the basis of their research activities have an HDR (2012 data).

Involvement in teaching activities

The involvement of our researchers in elective teaching activities not only means they exert an influence and ensures knowledge sharing, but it is also an effective way of reaching students who may potentially come to IFSTTAR for a placement or doctoral research.

IFSTTAR takes part in a large number of teaching activities at Master’s degree level. The institutions involved include the ENPC, the ENTPE, the ENSTA, the ESIEE, the ENS Cachan, the Ecoles Centrales, Université Paris-Est, Université de Nantes, Université du Maine, Université des Sciences et Techniques de Lille, Université de Valenciennes et du Haut-Cambrésis, Université Claude Bernard de Lyon, Université Joseph Fourier, Université Paris Descartes, Université Paris-Sud Orsay…
