CE Marking of protection kits

Falling rock protection kit

Since 1 July 2013, the European Technical Approval Guide ETAG 027, published on 1 February 2008 and amended in April 2013, has been used as a European Assessment Document (EAD) for the CE marking of falling rock protection kits.

The term falling rock protection kit refers to any kit that can withstand an impact with a maximum energy level equal to or greater than 100kJ, including at least one functional module consisting of:

  • An interception structure,
  • A support structure
  • Connecting components.

In ETAG 027, it is explained that a level 1 compliance certificate system applies to this type of product. This level is defined in Construction Products Regulation No. 305/2011.
