    Thierry Bellet is Senior Researcher at the Ergonomics and Cognitive Sciences Laboratory (LESCOT) of IFSTTAR.

    He holds a PhD in Psychology and Cognitive Ergonomics (Paris Descartes University), a master degree in Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Science  (Telecom ParisTech), a master degree in Ergonomics ((Paris Descartes University) and a master degree in Cognitive Psychology (University of Lyon).

    He is Researcher at IFSTTAR (LESCOT) since 1999. His areas of research concern (1) Human Driver Modelling (cognitive simulation of mental activities, situation awareness and human error analysis), through the development of a computational simulation model of the driver so-called COSMODRIVE, and (2) Cognitive Engineering to support the (Virtual) Human Centred Design (V-HCD) of advanced driving co-piloting systems, adaptive HMI to enhance drivers' situation awareness, and vehicle automation based on real time driver monitoring functions.

    He was/is involved in several National and European projects focused on Situational and Risk Awareness study and modelling (HUMANIST, 2BESAFE, SARTRE4, PROMOSECUR), Human Centred Design of adaptive and intelligent co-piloting systems (e.g. CEMVOCAS, ARCOS, AIDE, PARTAGE, COROLA, SAFEMOVE, ADAS&ME), and Cognitive Engineering to support adaptive HMI and vehicle automation (ISI-PADAS, HOLIDES, HFAuto, VI-DAS). At the international level, he collaborated in these topics with UC Berkeley (CALFRANCE project) and the Florida Institute of Technology (HCDI).
