    Description

    Mes activités de recherche sont, pour l'essentiel, dans le domaine de la sécurité routière. En termes de sécurité primaire, l'approche épidémiologique que j'utilise permet d'identifier les facteurs statistiquement associés à la survenue d'un accident ou d'une victime corporelle, puis de déterminer lesquels de ces facteurs de risque peuvent être considérés comme causaux. Le principe très opérationnel de cette approche est que, si l'accident de la circulation est la plupart du temps un phénomène multifactoriel, l'identification de tout ou partie des facteurs causaux peut permettre de définir des actions correctives sur un ou plusieurs de ces facteurs, afin de diminuer la fréquence ou supprimer un "maillon" de la chaîne des événements qui auraient sinon abouti à l'accident. En termes de sécurité secondaire, mes recherches s'appuient principalement sur le Registre du Rhône qui collecte les bilans lésionnels précis des victimes et les circonstances des accidents survenus dans le département, ceci à partir de l'ensemble des services médicaux qui prennent en charge les victimes d'accidents de la route.

    Les derniers projets de recherche que j'ai conduits ont porté sur les deux-roues motorisés (Secu2RM), les piétons (Voiesur), la question de la conduite sous influence de l'alcool ou de stupéfiants (ActuSAM), ou l'évaluation du nombre de blessés graves en France (Reg-Trauma). Je participe actuellement aux projets Surca pour estimer l'influence de l'introduction progressive de véhicules automatisés sur les accidents corporels et M-Vasem dont l'objectif est de proposer une valorisation socio-économique du blessé grave.
